Bushi Ki Do Dojo
Bushi Ki Do is a Dojo based in Bilborough, Nottingham that teaches the classical Japanese sword style of Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu. This is a style that has its roots in the Tosa region of Japan on the island of Shikoku.
Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu can be translated as: Muso: without equal. Jikiden: transmitted teacher to student. Eishin: a master swordsman and 7th Headmaster. Ryu: way or style.
Iai as a word can be translated as 'facing or meeting a person'. Initially the practitioner will learn Japanese sword techniques and to control the movements of the body. It is also the aim of this martial art that as the practitioner learns the physical techniques they also cultivate their mind and so realise the bond between themselves and other people.
Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu can be referred to as Iaido or Iaijutsu. This Dojo teaches the traditional Koryu techniques with emphasis placed on correct body movement and effective Iai. This is very a different training technique than one might find in other schools of Iaido and makes for strong, dynamic Iai.
